Default Greetings with a rookie question!

    G'Day all!

Nick here from Australia. My friend recently brought me back a rep watch from his travels in Thailand and it has reignited my passion for time pieces! Looking forward to interacting with the community.

I have a question regarding the durability of some materials. I have been browsing some of the dealer catalogues and fancy some of the pieces that feature RG plating on the cases or bezels. In your experience, do these reps with G or RG plating handle regular wear well? I would assume they would be fine for collectors who would wear them sparingly and have them housed in collectors boxes but for my first purchase I intend to buy one for regular wear and would prefer not to drop hundreds on a rep only to have it looking worn out after a few wears. Looking forward to your advice!

    Regards Nick

    Hi Nick,

Welcome to RepGeek and make yourself at home.

I just replied to a similar type of question here: In short, you are correct. "plating' will wear much faster then the SS.
