Default Suggestion: don't allow sale threads to be deleted

Allow them to be "moved" to an archive or whatever but allowing dealers to delete their threads as soon as they consider them "sold" is not a good idea.

In my current instance the seller has deleted the thread I bought off, I left them positive feedback once it arrived and it looked OK, but am noticing quite a few things 'off' with it (and I'm not talking a crown guard 0.01mm too high or a shade of gold not 100% gen-accurate ) but I can't go back to check if I'm imagining what they claimed in the advertisement because they've deleted the thread.

Perhaps only permit them to move to an "archived sales" thread? I get there may be reasons they don't want their entire sale history sitting there in thread, from basic clutter to the simple right to manage their own business exposure, but it's not without big flaws... perhaps at least require a sale thread to be up for say 90 days before it can be deleted?

Good suggestion... This can potentially prevent many frauds in the future, or minimize it.

    Good suggestion.

This should go not only for dealers but also for members deleting their posts and pictures as is common on other fora

Due diligence is key.... don't rely on others, do whatever is necessary to protect yourself and never assume old sales ads will be there when you need them. The internet is constantly evolving. Websites disappear, people move images around in their photobucket accounts which breaks IMG links, data gets corrupted... etc. Simple solution is to screen capture or create a PDF image of all sales ads you have purchased from. That way YOU have the info stored on your computer and can reference it as needed whenever you need it. No need to set rules or police how long old sales ads stay up.

Roberts suggestion is excellent, especially in such a fluid used rep market place. I have started to capture what is claimed in the sales post I bought off in a MS Word doc so I can cut and past any relevant info later. I also save all the photos as jpegs. All of this info is in my 'watches purchased' archive on my computer and BU drive.
