    Default Hello there!

Just dropped in here to introduce myself. Been a lover of watches for a while since I was given a Seiko for my 16th birthday and discovered the rep world through this place and RWI, so I thought I'd dip my toe in and make my first purchase. As usual when I buy anything of significance, I duly researched the cr*p out of it and, thanks to the concept of TDs, settled on a 45mm PO from Narikaa. I appreciate there may be more accurate reps of this model out there with regards to movement, pearl, lume, etc, but I wasn't going to chuck £200+ at my first rep - I see this as being the first of many and it was only £77 delivered.

I'm really pleased with the watch and will be sure to leave a suitable review in the relevant section (I'm sure the fact that I had the watch in my hand less than 20 hours after contacting Reg is worth a mention!). Through looking at all the modding work posted on here I can already see where my PO needs attention but I'm just going to enjoy it for now.

Welcome to the forum Jimmy. Honestly, the vast majority of people would never be able to tell the difference between that PO and a gen unless they had them side by side. That's a good choice for someone just getting started. Enjoy!
I don't do what the voices in my head tell me to do......

I only do what the voices in my WIFE'S head tell HER to tell me to do.

    Thanks Kris, appreciate the welcome.

I know what you mean about spotting the differences but - and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this - the more you read about how other versions of your watch are more like the gen, the more you become concerned/paranoid/geeky about any deficiencies your own rep may have. Or am I actually the only one who thinks like this...!?

Bit of an update: I wanted to check if my PO was water-resistant, so I took it to a watch-smith who I've used over the years for battery replacement and pressurising of an old Seiko (he also sized the SS bracelet on the PO for me the day I received it) and told him I just wanted to check if it's OK for swimming, showering, etc. He came back and said it's absolutely fine - no leaks at all. He didn't tell me the degree to which it was tested so I'm guessing at least 5ATM as I mentioned swimming with it on - maybe I'll ask him when I take my next rep in.....

Five quid well spent, I reckon.

Should be good for swimming. I'd still be careful not to wear it for diving or sports like waterskiing or wakeboarding. Too high of water preasures hitting the watch in those situations.

Cheers Kris. I think the most it's going to be exposed to is splashing around in the pool with my kids on holiday so it should be fine.
