Hello peeps - just landed! Where's the heads??
Hi all, been looking for a place where I can talk about replica watches and this seems to be the place! I brought back some replicas from Afghanistan a few years ago which are probably Chinese, but want to stick decent movements in a couple. Am I in the right place for some guidance?
Thanks in advance.

You found the right place. How about some pictures of those Afghan hounds?

Yeah sure. They're not great, they wouldn't fool anyone but they're fine for a bit of fun. Give me a couple of minutes...

So any thoughts guys and gals?
Is it worth getting some cheap movements into these or would that just be throwing good money after bad? As an utter novice I don't even know where to start looking to know what size movements these would take...
-
Nope scrap them and save up for a couple of good reps mate as they are just standard cheap chinese reps with crappy asian movements.

They are Canal St reps my friend. That model Daytona is a 21J, same rep watch was worn in Kill Bill

Thanks guys, interesting. I paid $10US each for the 2 Rolexes and I think either $12 or $15US each for the other two. Does the number 21J have anything to do with what movement is in it? Is there some other similar I could stick in it? At least having the story that it's the same rep as the one in Kill Bill is worth a story
The Breitling actually has a good heft to it and actually manages to keep time for, ooo at least a day!

The only thing I would seriously consider putting in them would be a pitchfork

you found a good place to hang out. I started pretty much like you on the rols and omegas, then I stumbled onto hublots and now AP.
Grab yourself a large coffee, choose a brand you like and spend a day reading the stickies in each section before contacting a TD. Usually a Guru would had done the research and highlighted the good/bad.

your watches are great. I understand you probably have a connection to them and want to get them working right,
but trust me in telling you that they're practically worthless to you in terms of their intended function of keeping
good time for you and being reliable with decent power reserves.
the replica watches available at the highest quality point make these look like what they are, cheap fakes.
not only do you get very good and reliable movements in the high quality replicas, you also get high quality materials.
they make replica watches out of real deal titanium, ceramic and quality stainless steel. Several replica watches use
real sapphire crystals instead of mineral glass and now a days many come with authentic superluminova.
long story short you have a big pile of sentimental junk there. yes, you can probably send them some of them off to
one of our trusted watchsmiths to have new movements placed in them so that they work again, but why? For less
money most likely you can get a replacement that is better in every single way.
the only problem you're going to find is the overload of information. how do you find the right ones to get? the best version?
how do you find the right vendor to buy from? the answer simply is to spend time on this website. when I first got here I
bought up everything and had over 60 watches in my collection. I'm much smarter and more discerning now and have trimmed
that collection down to about 12 super high quality replica watches. gaining the information to do so took me a couple years
of reading here.
so my advice to you is to stop yourself from buying anything. I know it's hard. I would at first spend at least a month here reading.

Very well put, thanks MMs.

The only thing good I see about most of those is the price you paid. Lots of fantasy watches and some weird and interesting looking ones. None that would fool anybody that knew a little about watches though.
