    Default New to reps

    Hello all at RG!

I was recently introduced to this site from a coworker that shares my enthusiasm for watches. I have had a long standing love for watches, but have not been fortunate in collecting many due to the cost of the ones I like. I am brand new to the rep world, but have been reading all the posts I can here and looking forward to learning more.
I have looked into buying reps before, but have not had much luck in finding reputable people to deal with. I have started browsing this site and feel that there are many like minded individuals here. I look forward to talking and dealing with many of you.
A little about me... I'm from the USA. My watch collection is nothing impressive at this point. But, I have Seiko, Citizen, Bulova, Movado, Diesel, Swiss Army, Lacoste to name a few. None of them really high end, but have satiated my obsession as much as possible thus far. I am looking forward to finding a few must have reps to start furthering my collection.
If any of you have any advice or info that is needed to help get a noob started, please pm me. I am currently in the process of selling my house and moving across country, so please be a bit patient with receiving a response.

    Thanks in advance

    Hey buddy, welcome to RG.
There are no such things as stupid questions and we all had to begin somewhere, so just ask really.
As you are relatively new to higher end, the obvious one will be, 'who sells or makes the best Sub', to which the response will most likely be, 'do some homework'.

However, this is the most widely repped watch and so naturally everyone will have their own judgement of what they feel is superior but my advice would be to use the search tab and simply look for what interests you.
All of the dealers on RG are trustworthy, able to find excellent watches and give fantastic service but be aware that they also have busy lives and so won't always respond immediately.
Patience and manners are the name of the game and with so many to choose from, I would start with maybe a 21jewel Sub, which won't break your bank but offer a good start to what you can begin to expect from the more expensive reps out there.
You might want to invest in a bigger watch box as well....lol

From one Yank to another, welcome!
You'll have no problem purchasing quality reps as long as you use our TDs ( Trusted Dealers). Only dealers that have passed RG's muster get listed. My advice is to keep reading, especially the sticky threads in New Member Guides, and the individual watch brand sections that you have an interest in.

    Thank you for the advice!
I am reading all the threads I can to learn all the info needed to make good decisions. I am definitely looking forward to having more watches. The first thing I'm working on is learning all the differences in the mechanisms used in the watches, like the 21 jewel, and which is the better choice for what I'm wanting. I will likely be asking questions to all that are willing to teach.

Thanks erock1! The only problem I'm thinking will come up is that I have an interest in all watches. Some tough choices about which comes first lie ahead...

LOL, no worries Tiz, take comfort in that you're not alone doing your homework first is a sure way to avoid mistakes, but that's what's so cool about this hobby. You can buy a rep and if it's not for you, sell on M2M. Many do it. It's what you'll see as a C&R, catch & release.
Main thing is enjoy both the learning and journey!

Where do I find the member to member area? Under trade all I see is the rep watch trade and gen watch trade. I am probably missing it in plain sight...

That's it. The "Trade Area" section is where members buy/sell/trade reps and gens. We just call it M2M for Member to Member

That clears it up. Thank you!
Bought my first one to get started! Rolex DSSD. Got it from the guy that introduced me to the site. I'll get some pics of it and make it profile pic very soon. It is a great watch to get started on!
