Hi from the Netherlands
Hi fellow board members, and a big "how are y'all" from Rotterdam, the Netherlands!
I've always been fascinated with high-end, swiss made watches. I collect watch catalogs, and can find myself spending a whole day (or weekend
) just browsing through online watch stores or brand sites. However, being the fact that I'm still a (poor ) college student, I was recently lured into the world of reps. Not that I didn't know of their existence, I just always thought that replica's were those watches that you could buy from a Hong Kong street corner, having zero to no quality what so ever (actually, a mate of mine bought a "golden" rolex last year, and this "gold" gradually transferred onto the back of his arm, hence my perception of reps). Well, I found out the truth is far from that, and that some reps nowadays are of really high quality.
My main interests lie in nice steel watches from Omega and Tag Heuer, but I'm also a sucker for the slick and abstract style of Panerai. I can also enjoy a nice AP Royal Oak (saw a real one yesterday, and I must say, they are true gems).
I will probably making my first rep buying decision in the next couple of weeks, and it will probably be an UPO or Paneria. My only concern is if I can buckle down my rep spending, because seeing so many awesome reps gives me that non-exhaustable feeling of greed
. A well, if I end up with a Tag Carrera, UPO, Panerai Luminor and maybe another Omega within my first active year of rep collector, I'll at least have a respectable collection of watches to chose from.
Well, thanks in advance for your patience with the many newbie questions or remarks I will probably make in the next couple of months. But hey, we all had to learn, right.
