Hello and HELP Please regarding problem with PURETIME DEALER

I can't seem to login to the support forum so I'm going to post here.

I recently bought a $500 watch from one of the trusted dealers on here - PURETIME.

The watch lost an hour a day after two weeks and Puretime said to return it.

I returned it via a trusted carrier but the package is stuck in Chinese Customs and Puretime refuse to collect it as they say it will be confiscated as it is a replica.

I don't know what to do and I can't afford to lose that sort of money.

Puretime have been most unhelpful in this matter.

Any ideas what to do next?

I think that you are going to have to wait until the customs release it, if they do.
You don't say how long it has been stuck in customs. It can take a while.
I have always advocated that returning a watch to China for repair is not something I personally would do. I much prefer to spend out a little more to get it sorted with a good watch repairer than risk everything by sending it back.
I hope that you get a resolution to this and it might be worth sending a PM to one of the Mods to see if anything can be done.
The problem you have is that it is not the TD that is causing the problem but the Chinese customs.

The watch has been in Chinese Customs for over a month now.
They will not release it it until the tax and duty is paid.
The value on the package was only $15 as requested by Puretime.
Puretime refuse to contact the customs office because they say the watch will be seized.
I have offered to pay the tax and duty but customs will only release the package to the addressee.

The courier who delivered the watch says I might get it back in 6 months but there will be tax and duty to be paid.

If I do get the watch back, can you recommend a repairer in the UK who will work on a replica?

It went wrong after two weeks and I find Puretime's Customer Service A LOT to be desired.

Never send a watch back to China for repair, it's not worth the hassle and risk, there is a UK based watchsmith on RWI called ado123 who's highly regarded

There are plenty of posts that advocate not sending the watch back to China for repairs. There were also repairers listed in the trusted dealer sections. Yes, its a bit late for that, and am sorry you might have to suffer financial loss on this. Perhaps you could have asked these questions before sending a $500 item back to a known communist country.

But surely you cannot expect the TD to be responsible for customs issues and provide you a good price. It will be an unsustainable business model. Again, sorry for your travails. But this is a replica business without ebay/amazon returns policies.

I sent the watch back to the dealer for repair and it got stuck in customs and I offered to pay the customs charge and tax but the dealer will not help or even the contact the customs office and says the watch will be seized. Something is VERY dodgy here.
So yes, I do expect the TD to be responsible and sod their business model.

Lets suppose the dealer than approaches Chinese customs to pick up the watch after you have paid the duties. The Chinese customs will be wary as to why this chap is getting a gift from you. They will do a search and find out what business they are in. Understand this, the Chinese government is a law unto themselves. You got to stop looking at China with western democratic ideals of individual freedom and rights.

So, I ask you, will the dealer put their entire business at risk for you by collecting from customs? Would you do it if it was your business. We note that nobody wants the customs delay. It has happened and its unfortunate and its unfortunate it is you. Again, I am very sympathetic to you and your cause as $500 is $500. But this is the nature of the rep world. Hence you will see that many posts here, particularly from the VIPs and mods, highly discourage sending the watch back to China. One ignores this to one's own peril.

Sorry to read mate but you should have read the posts about not sending back....if Angus will pick it up, customs will not give him the watch back....

I bought this watch before joining any watch forum so I haven't read any posts.

I bought the watch from a legitimate website, the watch arrived, no customs duty to be paid, the watch went wrong, the company said send it back and we'll fix it, it all seems a fairly normal way of behaving.

I certainly didn't expect this sort of hassle, especially the company saying 'we won't collect it!' What should I do, drop it out of the sky for you and hope it lands on your workbench? Crazy way of doing business.

I've asked for a refund and they refused.
I asked them to pick up the watch and they refused.
I offered to pay all the duty and they still refused to collect it.

I can't be the first person this has happened to?

This is my last post on the matter as it is obvious no amount of explanation is going to satiate your insane desire for your pound of flesh. You have taken no responsibility of all the posts that have advised you not to do what you chose to do. Any more said is like throwing pearls to a swine. I am sure others will call you out for what you are.

I'm sorry that this has happened and I feel that some of the replies you've received have been a bit harsh, and I can understand your frustration on this and I would feel exactly the same, however unfortunately this is the reality when buying from a Chinese based dealer and it's unfortunate that you bought the watch before joining any forums so you was unaware of the possible pitfalls, I've sent a pm which you might find useful in future

Friend, I am sorry for what happened but you bought a replica. We sell replicas, not originals. It's illegal product and it's not a legit business. We can not collect it or try to contact the customs because

Thank you for your reply.

The package was called 'A GIFT' and the value on all 3 Customs Declaration Invoices was $15 as you instructed.

After reading the posts on here it seems I should never send anything back to China, so I don't want to go through all this again.

The watch is still under your 6-month warranty and is losing one hour a day.

If I give you my order number and details maybe you could send me a replacement watch or at least a replacement movement so that I can get it repaired here in the UK?

Are you sure you bought with PT here on the Forum or a repped website, there are plenty of fake websites, tretending to be of our trusted dealers.
If you bought at the correct Angus/PT, are you kidding asking about illegal goods? You are on a repforum, what do you think?

You are accusing a well respected dealer who has been around for a long time when you made basic mistakes yourself....

I am a returning customer and I have no idea who 'Angus' is. I have been dealing via email with Puretime's slow and slightly unhelpful Customer Service department.

I am not ACCUSING anyone and I haven't made any 'basic mistakes'. I have come on this forum trying to get help getting my watch repaired or replaced.

I find it extraordinary that I have sent the watch back to where I bought it from, following all their instructions regarding Gifts and Values etc and that the company refuse to pick it up or even contact the place where it is being held.


Maybe Angus would like to come on here and sort this problem out for me.

Basic mistakes: you did not read any posts

You ask about Puretime selling "illegal? goods,....did you buy a gen watch on his site then? It is a replica site so all repped watches are illegal.

Well let's hope Angus does the right thing and helps me out with this problem, either with a refund or a replacement watch.

The maybe in the future I will spend ANOTHER $924 with his company.

There are terms and conditions which differ for each TD. Clearly you have not read them (well, basically you have not read much, which is the most basic of mistakes).

I have read his basic Terms and Condition on his website. I am not a fool so please don't take me as one.
There is nothing on there about Puretime not being able to pick up a parcel from Customs. Nothing is even mentioned about Chinese customs.

How am I meant to get the watch back to Angus - on a drone from the UK that drops it onto his desk?




As I've said, let's hope Angus steps up to the mark and does The Right Thing, as any honest businessman and decent person would do.

Your posts don't really inspire confidence in your claim. Does it say on Amazon's website how everything works? No. Yet you expect more from a website that sells goods that violate international IP laws? Seriously?

You're asking for a refund yet it's plainly stated in their website "Unfortunately our items are non-refundable and non-exchangeable for another item or returnable for store credit." Clearly you've read what's posted on the website...NOT.

I've told you, I've read his website.

I am asking for a refund or a replacement because I AM NOT ABLE TO GET THE ORIGINAL FAULTY WATCH BACK TO HIM.

Speaking of not reading, was it stated there that you could ask for a refund under that circumstance? No, it wasn't. Just wait for your watch to get to Angus.

Angus cannot receive the watch.

Angus will not collect the watch.

What do you suggest I do - fly to China from the UK, release it from Customs and then hand deliver it to Angus?
