Unnecessary comments on sale threads..>>>

It really is unnecessary to post on a for sale thread if you're not a buyer, or have a legitimate question about the watch being offered...Posts like: Nice watch!!...Or...I wish I could buy it, or that's on my wish list, only serve to clutter up the forum, and waste bandwidth...Chances are, the seller already KNOWS how nice his watch is!!...He don't need to be reinforced...Just my 2c...

Positive comments left on a sales thread are acceptable here. The bandwidth issue is short term as threads are deleted once the sale is completed or withdrawn.

Sometimes members are supporting their friends and fellow members with comments.

I think there is nothing wrong with it.

What I find totally tasteless is the badmouthing of watches or discussion of possible faults or weaknesses in the thread.
The buyer knows what they are buying, in all probability.

Bandwidth is not an issue at all. Usually members like to support the sales or just wish they could buy it. I am guilty of making such comments too. However if there is a converstion going on that is beyond the sale then yes we will step in and correct it.

"My watch just came in from Silix,the AR sticker is peeling off,its SS when i ordered gold,and i asked for a Breitling and was shipped a Tag"...

I don't mind comments at all in the sales threads. Sometimes someone may be able to add something about a watch that the seller didn't include, such as "they don't make this one anymore; rare watch" or "this one is very close to gen", etc.
Comments like these help the prospective buyer.

Agreed. Some comments can be very helpful like that.

It's pretty simple, if your post is complimentary or informative, then it should be welcomed by buyer and seller alike. If not, then keep it to yourself.

If I see someone asking too much for a watch, or misrepresenting it, I'd rather say something publicly than wait for the argument to start. Some people don't know what they're buying and rely on the community to keep them straight.

Or are you honestly suggesting we let people sell Asians as Swiss because the buyer should arrive on the forum fully informed?

Good point Pug. We would consider such comment to be informative as mentioned, and therefore acceptable (and useful) for the benefit of potential buyers.

That is where the experience of the members helps keep the Sales Section self regulating in terms of fair value and quality.
