I agree! And that's pretty much the nicest compliment you could get on a rep.

Worst situation is when your gens look like reps... and yes, it does happen!

My friend once had a genuine Rolex Day-Date, ref. 1803 with an aftermarket diamond dial and an aftermarket diamond bezel. The watch, despite being authentic with only two aftermarket parts, looked so incredibly fake only a true Rolex afficionado would know that it's real! Hahaha.

The dial was a really really bad aftermarket MOP (mother of pearl) dial with diamond markers. To tell you that the print was bad would be an understatement - it was horrible, so was the really fake looking Oyster logo on the dial. All diamond markers, even though genuine diamonds, were heavily crooked and badly applied, with some adhesive left on the dial.
The bezel was a well used and abused white gold diamond bezel. Funny thing is that the rhodium coating started to peel off, so the bezel looked two-tone - in fact, it looked like a cheap rep with the gold plating so weak that the half of it has disappeared!

The case was quite beat-up and overpolished. Actually, even the lugs were polished to a mirror finish, presumably to make it more blingy and/or similar to the current generation President. Bracelet was stretched and the Oyster logo on the clasp was polished to the inch of its life, obviously destroying all the detailing on it.
To make it even better, ref. 1803 uses the Rolex calibre 1556 which has a low beat-rate of 19800bph, so the second hand wasn't smooth at all, which, in the eyes of unexperienced hoi polloi is a sure sign of a fake.
