Petition to Rename Repgeek to Repsnobs?
And to the topic at hand, I do see where OP is coming from. Sometimes, this place drips with so much rancor, it can be intimidating for new members. A shame really, as the forum can really do with some traffic. But I wouldn't go so far as to suggest a name change. Granted, there are a few notably abrasive and opinionated members, but that's expected in a male dominated forum with a measure of Internet anonymity. You should read the cat fights them girls have on their forums! Ultimately, we can disagree without being disagreeable.
"Such a lovely place...
This could be Heaven or this could be Hell.
We are all just prisoners here, of our own device.
Relax, we are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like.
But you can never leave!"

On a serious note guys,here at RG we've always prided ourselves with being the most friendly forum out there ...certainly the most family friendly forum.
That said tempers will flare from time to time and everyone has a different character and attitude and truth be told, sometimes the same question asked over an over it's plain irritating especially when the answer can be found out there.
We (the staff), can't possibly see everything nor we want to moderate everything so as long as it is what we deem civil even if disagreeable, we might decide to let it fly.
It is also up to you to help us.
If you see someone that steps out of line,something that doesn't bode well with you,report it to me or one my staff members and we will look into it and no....the name will not change although props for the banner...it's funny

@nembo
thanks for your perspective... Last word from my side... If you are frustrated by someone asking something stupid, then move on and let it be... Or in a nice way let them know where to find it and that their question is a common mistake... What some members seem to forget is that most noobs did search.... They searched Google, etc to FIND this forum where they then hope to interact with real people for help... They expect Google to be the dumb search engine and repgoogle repgeek to be the place they can just ask...a human.. For help..

So....who has the best sub?
-
As with all forums we have different groups here. It's clear some people like to have a good time and sometimes that means giving people a hard time under the guise of Internet anonymity. Berating someone from behind a keyboard is easy to do but not something that would happen face to face between complete strangers. Old mates yes but not strangers. This place is home to many and I suppose feeling like home it's easy to poke your head in a room and say STFU or GTFO then go about your business. I don't think any posts have been mean spirited but yes I could see how a noob could take offense. We have people like that and then we have people like yourself
@thevirgo
. Everyone balances out but I don't think it's fair to say the site as a whole is full of douchebaggery and ****wits that hate noobs.
Post a legit question, get a legit answer. Post a question that gets asked over and over again, get some punchy responses. Point being - search for "best sub" before you ask which is the best sub and you will quickly see what happened to the last 100 people that asked the same question AND you will see the answer to the question.

My point exactly.
If someone posts a question that I can understand may have have been difficult in finding an answer for, or in some cases, may have found numerous conflicting ones, then I am sure most of us will try to help if we can.
It's when the question is one that shows, on the surface to be asked by someone who has not even bothered to search, that I tend to get frustrated, as over the years I have gained much of my experience and enjoyment from reading the many threads relating to certain brands and models.
The wealth of knowledge on here is simply mountainous and to simply bypass those members, who have spent time and effort to compile it for the benefit of all, is IMO simply rude and lazy.
If I ask 'which is the best brand X', I want to know why and also how that conclusion has been arrived.
It helps me arrive at my own conclusion and also, more importantly, gives me a better insight to what to look for in any future version.
Yes we all started somewhere but the knowledge of others is what makes this forum such a wonderful place to be.

PATIENCE BRINGS ROSES!!
I am also a new member. I fulfilled your desire and now I have a full box to watch. I learned patience, and three times a week to read and read and read and read. For me it was a big problem Sleng and abbreviations. My dreams about 1: 1 are gone. I look at GEN watch when I go to Prague and you think of those of my watches are beautiful and makes me happy. Friends fills with new pool.
Dinner will be BBQ and beer. Keep all beautifully.

The first time I posted on this forum someone (who coincidentally is in this thread) told me to stop spamming and "padding my post count" so that I could sell a watch (I wasn't intending on selling any watches) I've since left this site pretty much alone because of how bad my first impression was and have just spent most of my time/efforts/money on a different one...

Sorry about that, it's been a tiny bit better lately since a couple of people have started calling out these aholes when they are being mean adolescents... This is still a great forum if you ignore the grumpy old men and appreciate them for what they are...

maybe its time to "segregate" RepGeek ??
if you're a n00b ya are only allowed to the level of ****wagon 1 that gives you access to most but not all of RG's sections
once ya score 10 points as a seller you're upgraded to Advanced
50 points and Professional
ya know, that kinda stuff
so many watches, so little time ... even less money !
