    I'm with you on this.

If you guys don't like the price, then just leave it alone.

the seller will surely lower his price if no one is interested.

Problem is- if someone buys at an inflated price, its sets a precedent.

For all the people *****ing about being grown adults, etc, my point is, that the rules state that we are not allowed to sell for a profit. I have had many watches here that could have been sold for a profit, and some of them I could have afforded to not sell, if I had known that I could mark them up by another 20-40%.

I do see sixers point...........it's about "community and hobby" versus "greed and profit"

It's difficult to control this....it's a fine line....especially on watches that are scarce.

An example.....I'm sure if a Honpo Panerai GMT popped up for sale in the $1000 to $1200 range it would be gone.......for a watch that normally cost back then $600 to $800....that's crazy...but most everyone here would approve of the price increase.

Hell....when JF made his 1:1 PM case sets....at a certain point he couldn't sell them and dumped them on Fleabay for a cheap cheap price......today you can't find an intact JF case set....when they do, be prepared to pay close to $500 just for the case.

However....when you have folks trying to profit from a slow supply....like the H-factory PAMs....then maybe that should be pointed out.

But how do you control a new Geek from going out there an paying whatever their pocket book can afford...even if we think it's an inflated price.....the question is when he comes back later and tries to re-sell that watch for the same price...will there be a market for it.

Nothing is for certain in this hobby.....tomorrow, another factory can produce a mac-daddy 1:1 SUB case set to rival WM9 SUB case....then where would everyone be with their WM9 SUBS?....probably brought back down to earth.

Look at how the H-Factory has supplanted DSN's case sets for Luminors.

I think this inflation of price (many times) is out of our control...the market dictates...especially when you have such a large and world wide community...and you have guys around here from all over the world with some coin to throw around.....it would be a different story if this place were fewer members.

Any member is free to consult or ask the community what they think of a price for such and such watch.

I've got no problems with guys selling rare watches for what they can get. What bothers me is the flippers, dealers and scammers. I really thing a limit as to the number of watches you could sell would put an end to all this, but the sales section draws a lot of traffic to the site so I doubt that we would ever see that. I really wish there wasn't such a stigma against members making negative comments in a sales thread. Veteran members often spot things that newer members don't but just don't want to go through the bother of pointing them out. Many times I've seen guys selling used watches for $50 more than you can get them at sillix or a7750 and the only comments I see are "great deal" or "why is this still here". Makes me wonder about the motives of the guys making those comments.

Who's fault is that ? YOURS. I recently sold a Hublot for $100 less than what it cost me. Should I make a post crying about being able to make 20% more if I would've posted it on more forums, etc. ? No. It was MY choice to list and sell it for what I did. Seems like there is some major estrogen flowing in this thread. It is about being a grown adult. No one has had a gun to their head, and been forced to sell something at a low price, nor has anyone been forced to buy something at a high price. You know what "grown adults" do ? They read the ad, and move on. That's how the market gets regulated. I'm sure the mods on this and any other forum have better things to do than sit here and look at the history of each and every piece being sold.

This coming from someone who has been screwed TWICE on transactions from this forum. Maybe I should start looking for people to blame.

The point he is making is that some of us would like to help out other members by unloading unused watches at fair, discounted prices. Its disheartening to see the same watch being resold at an inflated price a week later. This kind of behaviour does nothing for the community and should be heavily discouraged.

    andreww, thanks for getting it.

Bmw, I am following the rules, not sure how that makes something "my fault."

You're pretty rude, aren't you? It was apparent in one of your old sales threads, now it's just confirmed.

I'm with BMW. Out of all rep purchases, the only one that I bought on here was defective (undisclosed) and I am struggling to sell it for 60% of what I bought it for.

So that makes it ok to price gouge on others (which is against board rules)?

again, nobody forced anyone to buy anything. it is a willing exchange dictated by supply and demand.

There will always be a demand for watches listed below retail. Left alone the average value may settle at 80% of retail. Because that is the going rate, if you wanted to sell a watch you would have to price accordingly. But, if I decided I would buy all watches valued at less than 80% of retail and immediately re-list at 90%, the demand would still be there, but the acceptable price would be skewed.

You don't know me, or anything about me. I don't need your money, or anyone else's on this forum. There are plenty of people here, and on other forums that would step up to the plate and tell you about all the times that I have helped members, sourcing parts, and watches. Many times losing money. Who the heck do you think you are ? I'm rude because I'm not a big baby complaining about what someone sold a watch for ? Guess what, I could care less. I have a life, and a business to run. If someone wants to overpay, more power to them. I said it before and I will say it again. Act like a grown adult. If the price is ridiculous, don't buy it. Do you need someone to hold your hand through life as well ? Go look at my seller's feedback on all the REP forums. It's impeccable for a reason. Forums police themselves in many respects. Why don't you volunteer to be a mod and run forensic checks on every item being sold here ? While you're at it, figure out why two of the most horrific scam deals I have had were on this forum. Maybe I should post a thread and cry like a little kid. You know whatI did ? I chalked it up as a loss and moved on. Next time before you open your mouth and start calling people names, go do some research.

Blatantly ripping ppl should be called out. Reasonable increases based on aforementioned factors should be allowed.

Its common sense. No mathematical equations needed.

Hopefully the mods will follow up on the watches that are beeing sold at a to high price. I think both Bmw and sixers got good points. Its against the rules of the board to flip watches and earn money on them, thats the point sixers trying to get through. But as Bmw says, if you dont like the price, dont buy it, move on........there´s always a watch to buy If you think the price is to high, contact a mod and have him take a look at it is my suggestion And come on guys, lighten up
