Hello from California!
Hi guys I just wanted to introduce myself before i do some extensive research on reps. I've been going watchless for years and figured its about time I invested in a couple watches to go with business and casual attire. They just add that extra level of class!
I was actually looking at more inexpensive homage watches (specifically the Parnis Pilot) before my friend referred me to this forum. Now I just have a couple things to say/ask before i jump into this world of reps.
I assume everyone here are just normal guys like me that want to get the best bang for their buck and doesn't believe in paying the ridiculous prices for a brand name watch.
My only gripe is... personally I don't think I can bring myself to wearing a rep. Mainly because if it's not the real thing then it's not the real thing. Why try to be otherwise?
I would rather spend the same amount of money if not more on a quality custom replica with sterile dial or homage watch than a rep. However, if this isn't possible for some reason, i would suck it up and buy the rep.
The way I see it so far, the quality all comes down to the dealer. It's no longer a brand issue when it comes to quality in reps.
Maybe someone can shed some light on this hobby. Is it a demand issue? More people want replicas than quality watches which is why dealers don't offer quality watches with sterile dials?
