Seriously...unless you have someone who "knows the ropes" you won't find anything better by traipsing around GZ!
I'm just back from 10 days there, and without my "eyes and ears", I may as well have stayed at home.
All the good quality reps are a long way from the market stalls, and without an introduction you will not get near the quality stuff.
Plenty to look at and do, just not too many watches to buy!

I agree with Offshore 100%. By all means if you get a chance to check it out do so - very interesting and fun. Well, fun that is, until you get tired of seeing much of the same stuff. You do need a local to find anything good.

Check out ZhanXi Road at Yue Xiu district. Get a local guide and practice your haggling technique. Goodluck!

Agree with everything above me. If you wander around by yourself, there is a chance that someone will invite you to look at "the good stuff". Resist your natural instinct to flee, and follow the guy up flights of stairs and into shady locked rooms. (There's no sliding eye-slit, and "What's da passwoid?", but there might as well be.) Once you get inside, you will be treated to the bounty of... somewhat less crappy reps!

Ask one of the trusted dealers to guide you. You will not find a better deal on your own.

Nothing to see there....easier to find something decent IN bangkok then there.
That said,stick with our dealers....you'll be better off.
