    Default Noob from Wonderful Copenhagen

    Evening all,

Time for this Dutch noob to come out of hyber- (lurking)nation and start participating. Have been browsing various forums for a while now, searching and reading everything and nothing. Ordered the Panerai catalogues and they have occupied my evenings this last week. So for now, I'll stick to the introduction.

Have been a car enthousiast for ages now, but only recently did I dive into the world of watches. An obvious link, many would agree; I'm just amazed about how long it actually took, now that I am discovering the beauty of it. Given the size of my wallet, rep's are most definately the way forward, although some vintage gen definately are on my wishlist.

I've experienced it somewhat with a few (specialized) car forums, but the (rep) watch scene on this forum is truly amazing. This world of watches keeps on unraveling itself and there are so many cool things I'm discovering. Just like with cars . The lines, shapes, colour (combo's), straps, technique. There's an endless row of combinations and I'm just getting started with learning (new) brands & models. The human factor of it, the community feel on the forums is the other inspiring part, that keeps on pulling me to the forums every day.

Like my taste in cars, I already have a diverse list of watches/brands that I like. although like with cars, I have a soft spot for the 'odd one out', the special ones, and less of a liking for 'regular' stuff. Dare I say it, but Subs don't do anything for me.

Living in Denmark, I like Danish Design and Linde Werdelin is on my list of favourite brands, although it is a very young one. Others? Tag Heuer, Romain Jerome, Panerai , Corum,

I'm glad to have arrived here, I'm planning on staying for a while, I hope to be asking some (not-too-much) Noob questions soon and probably before you know it, I'll be selling highly modded reps to make space for a gen.

    Thanks,
    josjevee

P.s. What's on my wrist now? My black Skagen '521LBLB1' has been put aside, since my first rep, a PAM196 has arrived. Not my favourite PAM model, but a great one to get started with and get a feel of Panerai's with. Bought through this forum, so

Welcome and congrats on finding us! Copenhagen is a beautiful city. I have a lot of fond memories of going there with my grandparents several different summers when I was a kid. They absolutely loved the musuems and I think I got my love and appreciation of art from them. Nothing moved my bubbe more than art.

Her favorite museum was the Rijksmuseum. We would spend hours there listening to her talk about the lives of the artists and all that. I think I'm overdue for a visit to Denmark.

Oh, and get over that Panerai thing. LOL

    Thanks guys.

@jakob1: Sounds good, I will keep on eye out for any sales you put up. A gen Linde&Werdelin won't be my next buy though.....not yet...

@posh: glad to hear you like CPH. I know the Rijksmuseum too, but only because I'm Dutch. That one is in Amsterdam. Have you been to both places?
Don't worry about the Panerai-fever. It's just to get things started

Well, we normally spent a month in Europe and hot several cities. She liked Copenhagen and their museums. When we left there, the next stop was almost always Amsterdam. Before Copenhagen, we would always be in Oslo.We would take a similar path all the years we went and then venture to smaller cities once arriving in a major city and we would always stay at the same hotels. The regular staff knew us by heart.

Inevitably, when I talk about Copenhagen, I end up mentioning Amsterdam. They will always be linked in my mind.

@posh: Wow, that sure sounds like some great vacations you had (and some fond memories). Great museums in Copenhagen yes. Your next visit (cause there is so much new stuff you haven't seen ), you should plan it for early October, when it's Culture night. Then friday evening+night, eveyrthing cultural is open. Including cemetaries
Amsterdam and Copenhagen have much in common. That's why I fell for CPH when I first came here. When I find the offtopic history forum, I'll elaborate on the similarities and history between the cities/countries.

Tack så mycket, Concepta. Det er godt at have ankommet sådan et fin sted

En bedankt Heer Donbeekie. Mooie foto van het Nieuwe Koningsplein (toch?)

@psymoN: I'm not the real deal, although I've managed to stay 8years so far ;-). Mon ikke snart jeg kan ansøge for Dansk statsborgerskab

We I'd be interested in hearing about the histories between the two. I like interesting minutiae that I can use if I ever play Trivial Pursuit again. LOL
