you mean section? as a new section in this forum? or do you mean a new forum as in "quartz geek"? I'd be interested in a new quartz section on this repgeek forum.

Yes, I mean section. Just a place to discuss quality "sleeper" reps with quartz that people tend to overlook just because they are not automatics.

I can just see the technical section....how to insert a battery. Seriously, the issue is that you would still be looking at a watch (mechanical or quartz) by brand so there is no point in putting them all together.

I think the point is, correct me if im wrong, quartz reps get a bad wrap as lesser quality as a whole. When, actually, thats not necessarily true given that parts of the reps like cases, bracelets, stainless steel, etc of quartz reps from certain dealers are the same as the watch getting a 7750.
I think its a great idea to get that informatin out there- can there be a thread or a section based just on quality quartz reps that have the fit and finish of the others that are getting the 7750s. Ive seen first hand, the really nice Tuiga Hublot's that are identical watches to the great quality HBB 7750s and then ive seen ones that just because theyre quartz have lesser quality features and feel cheap. One centralized area dedicated to better quality quartz watches and the dealers carrying them etc can be influential on buyers who are weary of a specific brand. Some people want to get a quartz rather than dropping the dime on the 7750 just to see how it fits on your wrist.

    Just my 2cents.

    I like it too.

There are some very nice AP Quartz reps that are identical to their 7750 sec @ 12 counterparts except they cost 3x less.

Agree with all - quartz used to be the black sheep of the rep family... Now there are some stunning pieces, and at a pricepoint that allows for multiple purchases... With a dedicated section, I'm hoping dealers will feed back our enthusiasm to the factories for more high-quality quartz reps.

Call it snobbery but it would just be a forum section I would studiously avoid. I got back into Reps as a way of having a decent mechanical watch without breaking the bank. If I wanted a Quartz I would probably just get a Seiko.

I have spent some time at wus dedicated quatrz forum, It cover ALOT when it comes to quartz movements. They dont discriminate anything but reps (never mention reps there!)

When i removed the caseback on my gen Tissot and discovered the 25 jevel swizz quartz movement i realized there must be geeks that are into quartz.. (I had only seen the cheap quartz movements before that)

I concur. I would rather go looking in the brand forum vs. a separate section. I can understand the convenience of the separate section but I think it would get too confusing when looking for information.

Not snobbery pre se but certainly mis-informed. There are many premium watches that utilize quartz movements. Omega and Breitling come to mind. Further Seiko is a huge producer of mechanical movements from entry level through premium grade. Technically speaking they make some of the toughest and most advanced mechanical movements out there. So maybe it is misplaced snobbery

I don't generally like Quartz, however I do think everyone should have at least one quartz watch just for the sake of it. A Quartz section would definitely be interesting and might help noobs choose a nice Quartz rep or gen.

Sorry, but a Rep with an Asian ETA, installed by a Chinese worker who actually does not really care has more soul??

If we are talking about a watch like a Lange or a Seiko Spring Drive I agree...... but otherwise definitly not....

Then I'd never need to worry about wasting my time by stumbling onto a discussion about such inanity.....
