Hello from New Zealand!

Hi guys,


I joined the forum to exploit the wealth of information you have here. I have been looking for a good big bang rep, and while I have looked around in other rep forums, the rep guides here are amazing! I am really impressed with the contributions made by members here.

While i say hello, what I really want to ask is, is there any other kiwis around that might be able to point me in the direction of a good rep friendly watch smith? I have a few Swiss mechanical watches and a couple of reps that have turned out great and one of the reps is probably going to be needing a service sometime in the next six months, and to be honest in kind of scared to ask if my watch guy is willing to work on reps, I suppose there is no real way to know how they feel about reps without straight out asking, but I thought I would ask if anyone here could recommend someone before I get that far. Hopefully someone in Auckland, but NZ is small so the post of fairly quick so I may just have to take anyone I can get.

Welcome to the forum! I'm not sure about NZ, but from what I've seen here in the US, most independent watchsmits don't get offended when you bring in a rep to have looked at. They might not have the parts on hand to fix an asian movement, but most will do what they can. Just don't go to a watchsmith who is affiliated with an Authorized Dealer.

Yeah the JAFA thing took no time at all! sorry I hadn't replied, I checked several times for replies on the day I posted and then must admit I forgot all about it. The NZ time difference does make it difficult to be online when the rest of the world is I suppose!

The same day I posted this I had already started looking around, there is an independent watch smith who has a great reputation online on every review website I find including on Trademe services (local equivalent of ebay) who may or may not work from home so not too worried he might have some great affiliation to any authorized dealers . I think i will drop him an email when the time comes.
