Welcome to the forum as400! Interesting screen name. Do you work with IBM systems?

We have a group of watch dealers here who are "Trusted Dealers" They have been vetted by the owners of the forum and have proven to be trustworthy in this very "Gray" hobby. Some have large web sites, while others sell directly in their sections on the forum. Then there is the regular sales section where individuals sell their personal watches to other members.

If you are looking for a Seadwller, one thing to think about. There are no quartz genuine Seadwellers. They are ALL automatic. All of the Rolex watches that you will see with a quartz movement are going to be VERY low end replicas.

Thanks for the reply, I am always surprised that quartz movements are not used, they are more accurate than auto and if you leave the watch for a few days they don't stop!

Well, honestly, the fact that quartz watches keep time more accurately than a mechanical watch doesn't really enter into it. Mechanical watches are by design, more complex, and more difficult to regulate than a quartz watch. I like to compare a quartz watch like a G-Shock for example to a Prius, and a mechanical watch like a Rolex or Omega to a Porsche. There is nothing wrong with a Prius or a G-Shock. They are both fine examples of modern engineering. But they don't make the heart pump like a Porsche.

A finely made mechanical watch is a thing of beauty. And the whole idea behind replicas is to REPLICATE that thing of beauty. I won't say that it's just WRONG to buy a quartz replica of a genuine watch that is only made with a mechanical movement, but I wouldn't do it with a Rolex. Many people expect a Rolex to be a fake anyway. Having a second hand that goes Tick.........Tick.........Tick........ just confirms it.

Yes, they DO have to be kept wound, and yes they have to be serviced on occasion, but I personally ALWAYS choose a mechanical movement in a replica of a watch that was designed with a mechanical movement.
