Hi All! Woody here from Atlanta Georgia. Found my way here due to curiosity about the replica watch game. I recently bought a Submariner homage watch. I'm not a collector I was just looking for a watch with a cyclops so I could see the date without my glasses. I blame Steve Jobs and Apple for that condition. Anyway, I was doing some research and bought a Phoibus watch. They sell a sapphire crystal in a 316 stainless case with stainless steel bracelet and Ronda quartz movement for $120. I did some research and found the case and design was very similar to a Steinhart Ocean One for a third the price. That got me thinking that today's watch brands are largely buying parts from China and assembling in Switzerland and reaping extraordinary margins.

I'm learning about the pro's and con's of the replica watches. I just want a watch that is affordable of good quality and value. The replicas allow the buyer to have a greater choice and I think better designs. Is that about right?
