Default Just found this site yesterday

Hi everyone........ just found this site yesterday.

I don't have any relica watches just yet but that may change soon.

    I have 4 genuine watches:

    1. Tag Heur 2000 chronograph that was a 21st birthday gift.
    2. Rolex Submariner non-date i bought in 2000, still mint.
    3. Panerai PAM104 i bought in 2003.
    4. IWC Big Pilots watch that was purchased April 2008.

Guess i am looking for a really good Royal Oak Offshore replica so that i can get a feel for one before shelling out £10k on a real one. Any Advice on the best dealers?

    Cheers

    Mark

I've just remembered the feeling when I discovered the replica forums a couple of years ago...what a feeling...and I couldn't belive that all the reps I was seeing from members and collectors were real..It's a feeling I will never forget..and god bless the day I entered this wonderful world...

take your time, read the forum...plenty of useful information can be found using the search function in the top bar...

welcome and good luck with your new hobby...

    Mark:

Welcome. Here's the thing with the APROO....originally, they came with seconds at 9 because of the 7750 movement. Some models had the original type dial and some modified the dial to reflect the seconds at 9. The best available is the MBW/MBK versions. These have the slow beat 7750 (21.6K). Read a bit and you'll get a perspective on the MBW watches. I have one of these and had Ziggy drop in a Swiss 7750.

Now the original APROO has seconds at 12 and many members waited till that version came out (it's now out). However to get the seconds in the right place it was necessary to add a module with additional gears to move the second hand. More gears equals more pressure on the movement. There are plenty of threads out there on the reliability of the seconds at 12....both pro and con.

So, if you're just going to try the watch out in anticipation of possibly purchasing a gen...then it doesn't really matter...buy the cheapest. If you think you might keep the watch and the 9 versus 12 issue doesn't bother you, then the MBW/MBK is the way to go.....

BTW, this is a big, heavy watch and trying it out is a smart way to go.
