    Default Greetings

Greetings guys and girls (if any). I got my first replica on Canal St in NYC back in 1988. Quality has improved since then. Now I only have a Jaeger LeCoultre which I got in Shanghai. I'll be picking more up soon though. Here's a pic of my watch, a real Hamilton.

I was amazed at the quality and selection (and low prices) of the watches in the Shanghai markets. I got my beautiful "Jaeger LeCoultre" for about $25. I was wondering, where do you recommend to shop online for these watches?

thanks guys. I'll check out the links. I must say you folks not only have good taste in watches, I can't believe the quality of the photographs of the watches. You sick puppies, what do you have little watch photo studio in addition to the watch collection?

Let me ask a question, do you generally go for automatic movement? In other words is that important to you as collector of fine replicas as it is to serious watch guys (the ones with serious money to burn).

And if so, how important is it to keep the automatic watches wound? I have two automatics, both the watches I mentioned. I read (from those automatic watch winding sellers) that keeping them wound makes them last longer. Anyone use one of those boxes?

Thanks again for the welcome! I am taking a trip to Manila soon and there is an awesome market there which has a huge selection. Negotiation is key and I can't wait to get there and get my new watch(s).

Trivia: which company made watches fashionable for men first? No googling...

    Welcome to RG man.

Most of us do tend to lean toward the automatic watches since quartz feels like it has no life. I keep mine in a winder but only wind the ones that are in my regular rotation. I think we have established that keeping them wound or not does not affect the life of the movement whether its an Asian movement or a rep. Either way they could both use servicing every 5 to 7 yrs to keep them running tip tock.
