Default Feature Request - Pic search.

So, once in a while, I come here, and I'm not in a reading mood, but to find pictures of watches, I have to go through topics one at a time. I'm familiar with searching thread titles only for keywords.

I know because of how pics are labeled by members and photosharing sites that you can't search for a certain watch on the whole forum, but would there be any way to search particular subforums, (Breitling, Omega, Rolex), or even search the VIP Sales section, for all pictures? Maybe have them come up as a thumbnail with a link to that particular post or even just the thread?

Then, if we wanted, we could just search for that thread to read the topic.

    I can see a pic-hungry 'geek clicking:

Board Index/Forum/Subforum, and in the Quick Links drop-down, Find All Pics.

Then you see a page of clickable thumbnails of all the images in that subforum, arranged by date posted. Clicking that thumbnail brings you to the post, with a link to expand to the thread.

Prolly a ton of work, huh? Or maybe add it to the advanced search page?

Off Topic forum would be a total laugh-fest!

interesting idea, but hard to put into effect i'd reckon.

i worked out a little trick recently to get past the 4 digit minimum thing when searching to a watch (eg pam 104 - will it be headed as "panerai 104" "pam 104" "dsn 104" "ultimate 104" etc).

    just search for " 104" (quotation, space, 1, 0, 4, quotation)

do that in advanced under "search title only" and half the posts that come up will have pics.

    btw, LOVE your avatar!

I don't think this forum platform can do picture searches.... so I propose that people could maybe put [PICS] in their subject line? would be super easy to search on.

You'd need keywords to make this work.

Well, I noticed that there's a little dark paper clip icon in the thread title box, (over on the far right, where the thread subscription icon is). This shows that the thread has an attachment, but this is only showing a pic that somebody attached on the 'geek server, right? But there's no paper clip icon for pics hosted elsewhere.

No way to make clickable thumbs, huh? Maybe there's some kind of program I could download that finds all the pics from a certain web address? Once I got to the thread or section I was interested in, I could see all the pics from that section? Ever hear of a program like that, Pugs?

Not easily as the images have to be hosted on the site for that to work. Hardly any images are hosted on repgeek itself, which is just as well as I serve over 8GB a month on my images alone.

Way to go, Rigors! I'm off to play!

And Pugs, thanks. It's nice to know there's somebody around that understands this stuff.
