New to reps (Washington DC)

Greetings!

I've never had a rep, but rather some "homages" that are suspiciously close to "the real things" minus a few labels. Those watches got me to obsessively compare the homages to the real deals trying to figure out the "tells." Anyway, I registered here on a lark and imagine my surprise when I saw all the OCD people here who mod their watches to look more genuine.

Anyway, I'm still not sure if I'll ever get a rep, but I'm definitely enjoying most of the posts here so far.

Welcome Helios (my old Sun...)... you should read the stickies on each section - they are a goldmine of information and links.

Thing to remember Repgeek is quite segmented, there are casual watch lovers who just love collecting info and reps (for fun, to take photos of, to wear, to mess about with) and there are real mega-informed students of particular brands and movements who are so well informed it is untrue... e.g. they'll slag a watch off because of incorrect "rehaut" (which I am pretty sure is a myth - there is no such thing, I think it was made up to confuse novices) after a while you will find where you fit in, but it is an enjoyable journey. Good luck.

And by the way, you will get a rep! Everyone loves a watch.
