    Default Let me re-introduce myself.

I don't think I ever really "formally" introduced myself here. My first posts were based on sheer panic and anger ... after I realized I had been badly ripped off on a low grade Sub rep by the now defunct scammers at Blue Fakes. $585 for an ETA Swiss movement "best quality", "latest version" Sub that turned out to be a broken $50-100 cheap Asian 21J rep.

First, I was steered towards SpeedyG who agreed to fix the watch (dead movement and detached numeral insert). He charged me, as a favor, barely enough to cover shipping and fixed the watch. His generosity was incredible and the repaired watch actually keeps perfect time, is totally reliable, and looks great even though it's far from being an accurate rep.

Next, I decided to buy some goods from one of this boards trusted dealers, WBK Time. First, I ordered some Burberry scarfs from Stan. Instant delivery! One of the scarfs had a pull in the fabric and I emailed Stan about it. A new scarf was in the mail immediately and he told me to just keep the defective one. I then ordered an inexpensive Rolex DSSD from him. I think this one took two days to come in, is a great value and a good looking rep.

Aside from this, the members here have been incredibly helpful and supportive. I belong to other boards ... I'm a scuba diver and a Corvette owner as well ... that I enjoy participating in. RepGeek now joins my short list of "must visit" boards.

Myself, I'm probably one of the older members here being over 60. I've always been fascinated with watches and this board has literally opened up a new world for me. It's not that I don't already have enough hobbies. I'm a ham radio operator, an amateur photgrapher amd amateur astronomer, play tennis, own a 2009 Corvette convertible, am an active scuba diver, and collect antique Roman coins. Aside from that, my wife and I own and operate the Village Gun Store up here in northern New Hampshire ... a "real" old time gun shop. Now, all I need is another hobby .. collecting rep watches.

Well, now you know who I am. I'm glad to be here!

Welcome from another "old guy". Fortunately, I found this place right before ordering from Blue Fakes myself.

Welcome! ... and I remeber your first watch . Glad speedy could fix you up .

Being into photography, taking good pics of watches is a little tougher talent to acquire, isn't it??? I learned just enough about photography on a prety large scale to open up a website selling goods. Adjusting all the rules to photo watches was quite a challenge. I think you'll find several of your hobbies combined here .

I have lots of experience with macro work taking pictures of my coins, but those are flat surfaces and easier to deal with. Watches are tough! Depth of field and reflections off the crystals and polished surfaces have been a real challenge so far. I'll have to do some more experimenting but I'm sure I'll eventually figure it all out.

I also do a lot of underwater photography, which can be quite difficult. With that I have to deal with color absorption, lighting, movement, and composition. Even then, at 100' under the surface and shooting with external strobes and handling a huge waterproof housing, I have an easier time than shooting watches!

Welcome, please do share some more underwater pictures you've taken, should you happen to have some handy on your PC!

I do bet its not a watch, but one of those diving computers . Kinda doubtful any "watch" gets used for diving the last, ahem, decades

Well, dive watches are still commonly used and I wear a Seiko 7S26 black auto dive watch with a rubber strap when I dive. It used to be my everyday watch, but I now also have a Citizen EcoDrive chrono and three reps. The Seiko has gotten a few years of rough use and shows a lot of scratches now. It's also been through two straps and a ton of dives. I don't have pictures of my Seiko but may add that soon as I figure out the fine points of watch photography. It's a very reliable watch and has incredible lume! Even in the darkest underwater situations, it's easy to read the dial. Side by side with my other watches, it's at least twice as bright in a dark room. The only drawback is that it does run fast, in spite of two trips back for factory adjustments.

When I dive, I have the Seiko on one wrist and a dive computer on the other. The watch keeps track of the time and I use the bezel for timing my "safety stops" before surfacing. The wrist computer monitors my depth, dive time, and nitrogen saturation so I don't risk getting the "bends."

Here's a few more dive shots I've taken.

Nice to make your acquaintance, Saholz. I love Seiko divers -- good choice. The people on RG tend to rock. Man I miss New Hampshuh -- what a beautiful place. Anyhoo, welcome aboard and see you around.

Default Ah! Another person from the Shire!

I am down in Portsmouth and have a farm in Pittsfield NH (near Concord). My favorite dealer is also Stan (WBK). Currently looking for *anyone* to fix some broken watches and came across your post. Now you are an old timer here too. I will definitely look you up this summer once the snow melts!

The post you are replying to is well over five years old. And he hasn't posted anything on the forum since 2010. So it might be tough getting in touch with him. 👍☺
