Wow guys, I could hide and run away and hope nobody notices me,
but I have to be honest, I am totally guilty of this!

I had no idea it was an issue. I have sold probably 30 pieces
and had payment as a gift almost every time.
Not one person said anything to me or commented about it.

I will totally refrain from doing it from now onwards.
I hope nobody thought badly of me for doing it?
Is ignorance an excuse in this instance? lol

So do you still think that asking a buyer privately to pay as a gift
is uncool? Surely with an excellent feedback rating and
reputation in the forum its not a big deal? What about giving
the buyer the option to pay the fees or pay as a gift?

Its not really about the money to be honest. I just don't like
giving Paypal the money. I have an online business and they
    get enough form me

I'm thinking that you as many (including myself) were only saying (although by different words) that the buyer would assume the fees, and I'm also sure that if on any of those sales you mention the buyer would have said that he would preffer to take the fees and pay as goods you would also have taken that option with no problems. You as the majority of the sellers here are honest members that accurately describe what they are selling and have no intention of deceiving or scamming anyone.
I'm sure that anyone that has seen your sales threads, dealt with you, or know you from the forums has no doubts towards your integrity as a seller.

Exactly, I would have no problem at all with the buyer paying the fees. In fact who wouldn't (unless they are intentionally trying to pull a fast one). I actually have an ongoing incident now where a buyer wants a refund for a watch which was exactly as described and there was full disclosure and pictures, etc.. In fact the buyer knows he is in the wrong and admits it, but still insists on a refund. I do not agree with the way it was handled and I would never go about it that way, but no matter how I feel, I would much rather not leave a bad taste in anyone's mouth. I am refunding the dude. Luckily for him, I am a nice guy.....LOL. Paying as a gift in this instance did not end up biting the dude in the ass because most people would not refund in this instance. I will now instead give the buyer the option too pay as a gift or cover the fees and I will only do this privately in discussions with them. Thanks for the thread Drhulee!
