    Default Hey from New Zealand

Hey all, just discovered this site and this whole scene after a youtube algorithm dropped a vid of high end replicas in my feed.

My Grandfather who was an old school deep sea diver "Lost" a half dozen Rolex subs during his career in the navy and on the oil rigs. He kept them all just loose in a wicker basket on top of his drinks cabinet.

Long story short, **** happened and one by one he sold them and actually even lost one I think. With that my presumed inheritance never actually eventuated.

Anyway I have always loved these old pieces and probably because I was always told as a child to not touch them I REALLY want one haha.
I just cant justify spending that amount of cash on a gen. Also I doubt he would approve of me actually buying a gen one in his honor, since all of his cost him absolutely nothing.

Already discovered in this short hour that I want a BK (possibly franken) sub. Hoping I can organise that from here or at least learn what I can get in compromise of that goal.

Hi all and see you around the boards.

    Cheers

Welcome to RG. Interesting story. Were they gens or reps in the basket?

Hey mate, nice to see another kiwi here (although I'm in London). BK sub are modern subs (maxi case), I presumed what your grand father would have had would be 5512, 5513, 1665 (Seandweller). If you would pay homage to him it might be ideal to look at these references. But there are NO "out of the box" reps for these 4 digits references so building one or buy one from M2M here or other rep forums might be a solution. Any questions PM me we can chat more.

Hi all and thanks for the welcome.

Hi grapeshot they were gens in his basket. I believe they were the only or best option for his deep sea diving needs and where provided by the company (I don't think or know if the British navy used them for their divers back then) he worked for. Hence he kept accidentally losing them underwater.

Thanks for the references watchmen. FYI I'm actually kinda opposite to you mate. I'm a londoner in New Zealand now.
