Depending on where you live, watch which bag you get. Some areas are socially more vicious as to replica bags, unless they are spot on.

Wow Posh, You worked hard on this one. My wife loves bags and purses. I will have to look into picking something up for her. She seems much more interested in them than rep watches.

Well, that's why I wrote it. I think your wife will GREATLY appreciate your consideration. Any consideration for her will GREATLY increase your watch time. But I know you knew that.

But I will do watches next. That's gonna be interesting. But informative and fun.

Another brilliant and informative post, posh!!

Wore my mahina XL saturday and it was yummy. Putting it away for fall, though. I have it in black and the dark leather, dark interior, and overall heft of the bag make it seem much more of a fall/winter bag. And you are correct - the XXL is superhuge and very very heavy IRL. Tried one on at the boutique and even I felt silly carrying it (all 5'9" and xxx lbs of me).

I also have the paddington, safely nestled away in her sleeper awaiting the time that she will see the light of day again. Another HEAVY bag to carry due to that damn lock. No, I don't actually lock mine closed, but do still have that kettle bell hanging off of it just for show. It's not a paddington without it. I suppose it would make a nice cludgeon in the event a heavy, blunt weapon is ever needed.

I like the lockit very much, don't have one as I would love it in suhali and have yet to be satisfied with the quality of suhali reps I have seen.

Since you mentioned it but intentionally left her out, should I be embarassed to say that one of my favorite classic reps is the mono Alma? I certainly don't wear it every day, or even all that often as compared to my workhorses (mono luco tote, recently retired after 3+ years in favor of the damier neverfull). But it is a beautiful, elegant bag with a distinct shape and it really adds a nice touch to a classic, well-tailored suit. I use it on occassion during the day for certain events, but mainly for evening (but not formal or even semi-formal) dinners or other such business affairs. The trick with the Alma reps is finding one that is the right shape. Many tend to be way to boxy and squared-off in the "shoulders". I went through 2 before I found the one I was satisfied with.

    Thanks again, dear Posh!!!

Thank you so much, BH. I appreciate the words and glad this proved helpful if not entertaining. And w're almost the same height! Ha! My mom is 5'9" and my sister is 5'10" and I'm 5'8"! We should all get together so we can stand somewhere and pose. For charity, of course! We have so many pictures in our house of us posing like the Ralph Lauren girls:

Ya know, the Alma is a beautiful bag. It's an LV classic and a classic in general as a lot of people really love this bag. Every time they do a special edition in anything, they usually include the Alma, even that dreadfully trashy chic Miroir. I don't dislike it at all. I believe it's more structured than I need and I get what you mean about those "shoulders." The Lockit has an Alma-type feel but not the presence and that's what I like most about it.

The Alma will never go out of style and you're safe when carrying it from a citation from the Fashion Police.

And you're right, it's just a bag without that anchor of lock on it. LOL

This is one of the best reviews/post ever. It deserves an award.

Now, the penultimate question.......Who has the best Birkin?

    Posh,

Great post - any time my wife takes the laptop while I am on "the geek" it is a solid thread. I will agree with the posts above, you definitely deserve an award for the time & info.

My wife is curious about the YSL Muse or Cartier Marcelle- I was looking at one in the AD and just can't swing $1,400+ for a bag she will change in 6 months. Are there any good reps of these bags?

    Thanks

The best Birkin? Hermes. But that's debatable. Actually if you check in 'Replica Accessories' there's a post with this discussion. FUNNY and informative. Thank you again, Bear.

Thank you so much, Mud. I am glad both you and your wife enjoyed the post. Thank you, again.

Um, what exactly is her curiosity regarding the Mus and Marcelle? And did she find any replicas of the bags she liked at all?

Thank you, Mrs-H-! I'm sure these bags will be good choices because they will LAST. There's nothing worse than spending big or little money on something that won't get much use.

Look out for my future picks!

I love the side by side comparisons! New to this site and looking for a bag for my fiancee and don't know much about all this yet. This is exactly the kind of straightforward reviews I need!

    Hi Posh,

Wanted to chime in with my thanks for such great posts. Great reading and some useful links. Your posts motivate us to look our best. Someone recently bemoaned the fact that Americans (I can attest that this applies to many people all over the world) seem to be perpetually dressed for yard work!! Loved your post referencing Steve McQueen. Spot on!

Sent you a pm, but wanted to give you a bit of public praise also.

Thank you, Lux. If it saves one life from fashion and LUXury mediocrity, I'll be happy.

There's a lot of apathy in the world at large, and it starts at home, I think. If you don't care what you look like when you leave your house, you probably don't care about much else either. That's how I view it; it's something that pervades one's whole life.

In my mom's field, it's also usually the first sign of some kind of mental illness.

ow and thanks from my gf for the post, it is the first thing she like on and about RG

Thanks, D, and tell her thank you as well!! I just checked and saw what you mean. They must have JUST changed within the last two weeks because I had to redo the pictures for this entire post about that long ago. I suppose now the bag is 100% spot on so that's good. I will update the picture. Thanks for that!

This is an excellent list! There are several on this list that I have on my own personal want list - the XS Mahina and the Burberry bag to just name two. I don't think I'd ever buy a replica Hermes simply because, as you've stated, I personally couldn't pull it off. I drive a Jeep, not a Mercedes.

I'd love to have the Prada bag, but I've had difficulty in finding a replica looks authentic. I know that the majority of folks where I live probably wouldn't know the difference anyway, but I am a little anal; I can deal with a flaw or two, but that Fairy bag is more than I can handle.

Speaking of the XS Mahina, I have wondered if it is too small for my frame. I don't know how to put this well, but I'll give it a shot - I love the Mahinas, but something about the XL and the XXL really bug me. It isn't so much the shape, but I hate the part of the bag where the handles meet the actual bag. I really love almost everything about the XS, but I wish it was bigger.

Posh, your analysis was absolutely incredible! Thanks for the side by side comparisons. There are waaaay too many sites out there with serious rep duds, and it's been disheartening wading through them. There's nothing worse than carrying an obvious fake (or one that you can tell without checking the lining, serial number etc) eeks!!

Really appreciate it. Please please post more! Will definitely be looking out for more of your stuff =)
