    OK Sweetie,
I need to know: what prompted you to write all this stuff about Art??

The fact that I love art notwithstanding, this post actually happens to assess a few bags from Louis Vuitton's latest line which involved designs by Richard Prince. Many of their recent collections have involved some of the biggest names in the contemporary art scene, like the late Stephen Sprouse and Takashi Murakami, who I did a post on as well.

I don't think you can really discuss any of these bags without discussing why they even exist. As I said in the post, I'm a big proponent of knowing the reason behind why a product exists: its history; its ties to the brand; its ties to the client, if any. Some people, like I mentioned in the post, mindlessly consume and that's bad--for the consumer but not usually for the companies. The whole point behind replicas, I think, is to be smarter and more savvy with your money. But I know there are some people who typically think that since the items are less expensive than genuine they should just go hog wild and buy anything and everything. I think that's a not only stupid but fiscally irresponsible. My posts are not for the stupid or fiscally irresponsible. I like that I can offer both consumer info and just general information as well; people will walk away with SOMETHING from posts.

When I wrote this post, I wasn't bored. What people may or may not realize, is that when I do these posts, I do them for the benefit of not only all the members but I also for myself because I gain extra knowledge from doing them as well; just when I thought I knew it all too. Believe me, my time is NOT wasted.

you have alot of opinions and alot to say but sadly, i have four kids at home, my wife is at work right now and it is bedtime for two of them.

I 'm affraid I just dont have as much free time as you do to carry on with Art discussions and analysis. I'm glad that you can actually go on like this....

Me, after the kids, gotta mark some papers and i might get one or two quick posts in but that's it.

    Cara out.

Thanks, I think. I think the fact that I don't have kids also contributes to my free time. So I'm getting in all the stuff I wanna do now.

    Smart you.

Children are monsters and bloodsuckers and if you care one whit about looking decent in middle age and beyond you'll forego children.

You can get the same kind of affection / distraction through pets and a cute small dog can also serve as a smart fashion accessory a-la Natalie Wood or several other stars of days goneby.

They do ( children, not dogs ) serve as one crucial trump card to women in the sense that they can make a man her slave for life financially and that is a very top quality card.

Children remind me of lethal midget spies and I loathe their screechy voices but enough about that. I am rivetted to know, though, which war Monsieur Caravaggio stopped today ?

What to say about Andy ? I guess the visually apparent as few, none really, got beyond the surface.

He was in his sunglasses phase then ( 1968 ) and his silver hair looked real to me, a dyed-in-the-wool hair conoisseur.
He was wearing a gorgeous shocking lime green split cowhide suede suit all of it cut in the style of jeans and a jeans jacket. Black tutleneck. Boots. He was with Viva ( she was a terrific and really good tempered ditz bag ) and Paul Morrisey.

I met him in an elevator and he invited me to dinner, drinks afterward at a friend's.
We spent the evening together ( no, not the night, lol ).
He said " Come to New York. I'll make a movie around you " which I though was total bull****, who knows? But he did give me his home phone number, and the Factory's and wrote some illegible words. I still have it. And a B&W photo of us all together seated at the table.

He was curiously parasitical and private. After we met, he spoke to no one else but me or through me as with an interpreter and there was a huge mob of people. This was a semi-official function.
He had pits all over his nose and that bothered me.
I thought, " These people are all on heroin. They will eat me alive."

Funny enough, I did move to New York then and also funny, I was leaving the day he was shot.
I remember hearing it on the radio in my Mustang somewhere around Chelsea.
The back seat was piled with my worldly goods and the passenger seat was occupied by Chimara, a blond Afghan hound.

Not even worth my time and energy.

Children are more, way more than dogs....are you for real? Is this really the real you writing this? I dont know you sir but I know this: my children (not dogs) give me unparalled joy when I see them graduate high school or I read my daughter's funny stories she writes or the pride I felt when I taught my son how to ride his two wheeler, or the deep sadness mixed with pride (I am sure) when I give away my three daughters at their weddings.

You sir, made no sense whatsoever when you compared an animal with a human being....if you are as smart as you'd like me to believe you are, you wouldn't mix apples with oranges....

    Actually Pug...

I did go to university....three times, in fact...

1-Once to get my Bachelors of Fine Arts (two majorsi n drawing and painting)
2-Another time for my B. ED. (Specialty in French and Art: high School).
3-Lastly, for my Masters of Education (in Curricular Policies)

Not once did I suggest I had the cure to cancer...what I alluded to was that people who amuse themselves with conjectures and grand allures of philosophical debates about art or what it means etc,etc....seem to be a misuse of great intelligence when, as a global citizen of this earth, I see people empoverished all over the world, war killing many innocent people, acts of brutal terrorism, millions of people stricken with disease (not just cancer,by the way)....

Also, I disagree, art does not end wars or cure illnesses or advance civilisation.... as you certainly know youself, many instances in the past showed that art was a tool for war or a subsidiary reason for warring....

art is an overrated human occurance...

"Art feels like a tall long mirror wrapping humans around and shielding them with aesthetics and illusions of grandeur but , in reality, it is merely a selfish vehicle for the human ego, and even when man looks at himself and attempts to capture all that is him and around him and puts his one-way thinking imprint on it: Art."

Right! A society without art is doomed to failure, in my opinion. William Golding's Lord of the Flies actually portrays this. The book itself has been taken out of junior high approved English curriculum because of the complex themes and allegory within it had more subtext than at first realized and is now considered too adult for children. The very first character to die in the book represents art in the children's makeshift society; art is very first thing to be censored and restricted in a totalitarian society. Just look at early 20th century Russia, Cambodia, etc.

Reread the book, y'all, whenever you get a chance. It's DEEP.

I'm glad you encourage your daughter's writing, that's for sure. Thank you for that. My parents would read my "novels" when I was a little girl, too. Now that I look back on it, I wonder how they could have enjoyed them every single time. I was writing about adult themes like a woman marrying a man and him turning out to be a abusive and tried to kill her. She fights back and survives, of course.

I was surprised such an outlandish, unrealistic idea actually became the RI-****-CULOUS movie Enough starring Jennifer Lopez. I was so like, "I can't believe that idea I came up with in the THIRD GRADE became major motion picture."

And calm down! Norman wasn't talking specifically about YOUR kids. he was mentioning his distate for kids in general. And he has the right to dislike any and ALL kids, including yours.

Okay, why study art if you hate it so much? Why is that? Can you explain that to me? THEN I can address the rest of this . . . viewpoint.

    Pure drivel.

I have not compared children to pets. If I had, children would come up with the short end of the stick.

Frankly, in an over populated world of disappearing resources I think it's selfishly moronic ( we're all entitled to our opinions and you started personal attacks ) to insist on a copy or semi-copy of one's own pathetic self.

If we need to propigate the species, children should be raised like cattle in marvelous open air pens ( nothing like good fresh air for optimum health ) then culled for the superior examples.
The rest could be sold for delicious high quality steak.

Furthermore, insane pets can be disposed of handily.
Insane children, of which there are many, can not.

Thanks, Zach!. My mom always gave me a spoonful of sugar to help the hiccups go away.

    OK

considering the stuff you`re writing and your tone....you`re not taking this seriously and you talk nonsense.

    So, I`m done with this.

    Have a good life.

By the way, you say `pathetic` self....please speak of yourself...

I am not pathetic and I know it.

Oh, you learned enough to tell people cleverer than you to get off their high horse while riding a donkey you wish was taller. Whoop. Throw a parade.

Those who can do do, those who fail[1] ... yeah, you know the rest.

By the way, you say `pathetic` self....please speak of yourself...

I am not pathetic and I know it.
I still want to know why you took all that time and money to study art in college and now despise art so much. Why? You still haven't answered.

I'm kinda surprised this isn't in the bin yet. And I think I keep seeing a nipple on a lot of these posts...is that just me?

I didn't know Posh had her own thread, so my apologies...but in my best Six Sense voice, 'I see nipples'.

Why would this be in the bin?

I'm just talking about all the back and forth. Nothing about the post...I didn't even see the naked pics. Must have been edited before I got here. That's why it's a forum, people can write whatever they desire. If one doesn't care for it, then move on.

OH. You're over a month late on that. It's was the kind of brouhaha usually reserved for someone who beats kittens and trips old people. As matter of fact, I wished I had done those things instead.

All I can say is wow.

This was way more entertaining than any drama I've ever seen, all the back n forth.. He said.. She said.. Very entertaining.. I feel art is a form of expression, its ok to be different in opinions since if we were all alike this would be a boring world.

Once again Posh has done it, this was very well done on your part.

And I would be upset too Posh if they stole my movie idea and I didn't recieve a dime for it. Mabye you should have went to LA to write movies while in third grade. Imagine the wealth you would enjoy now $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Sometimes we can get into heady topics here. Considering we deal with fakeluxury goods,we almost have a mandate to speak about things with great depth. You know, to prove we're not money-grubbing status seekers with no soul.

I'm glad you enjoyed the post and the ensuing exchanges. We aim to please at RG!!
