The problem is, reporting isn't really appropriate, as requesting PP gift payments is not banned.

As buyers and sellers you set your own payment methods.

That's why the admins/mods will handle it. Reporting will just bring to their attention. If there's any action to be taken it's in their court.

BTW, that thread you mentioned seems to be gone due to pp as gift.

You should be asking why your dealers do not participate on the forum, frankly. This is a much bigger issue i would think.

To earn your money they should be posting here,Josh and all (i know the Josh thing is coming).

After the dealers being banned at RWI when the 2nd forum owner (same as the first) became a dealer, all dealers became ghosts around the forums, that clown has since decided it was a mistake, though the memberships of the forums have suffered. I take no sides and the dealers that dont want to participate should go,all replaced with those that want to earn your money. The dealers use to be active daily, they should be today or replaced, why no interest,guys?...

Why is that not mentioned?....just nickel and dime stuff is the topic......

Funny enough, now that guy is no longer a dealer, and suddenly Josh and Andrew are no longer censored from being mentioned on that forum. Go figure.

I find it strange when rep forums become more focused on trade then information sharing. I hope they can find their way back.

All due respect, but the removal of the damn silly filter on mention of J&A can be credited to the new primary admin (trailboss) - it was his decision and his alone. D4M's retirement from rep sales is entirely unconnected.

I know the conspiracy theories are fun, but let's keep the tinfoilhattedness to a minimum, huh?

I agree with you that D4M's position as a dealer had little to do with that (given the fact you had to jump thru a few hoops just to find his stuff). He wasn't competition for any of the other dealers.

However I think the overall "vibe" around preferred dealers there went beyond a filter to remove Joshua/Andrew posts or any single admin act. I started there before finding RG and there was an overall strange focus on promoting certain sellers while almost "banning" you for mentioning others (or at least getting your posts utterly ignored). While here at RG the vast majority of the discussions are about exchanging information there it was(is?) too focus on dealers.

Again, I hope they find whatever is the place they feel is right for them.

So Dave if you only buy from dealers what are you trying to say? Sorry bro but I don't really understand. It seems to me that you advocate for the forum to be open freely to all types of payments maybe even WU but then again you don't trust the sellers to buy from them?

Just so everyone knows, paypal monitors it's "gift" payments. If you are found to be abusing this method of payment your account will be frozen or terminated. It is also not allowed under paypal rules to ask for pp fees as part of your sale. Build the damn fees in people, how freakin hard is this to do?? I use my paypal almost daily, and in a lot more places than RG. I will not jepordize my pp account by doing either of these two things. I still don't understand why our Admins don't just outright ban both these practices.

yeah, I agree. I've asked many of the pros about simple things like case moding techniques, or small part procurement... and they go un-answered.... But they have no problems replying to request about their expensive, highly moded reps up for sale.

You just have to be persistent, and bumping during rush hour times doesn't hurt either. You have to keep in mind that those who are looked at as "pros" probably also get a ton of PMs, so with that and just trying to browse the forum, they don't always have time to answer every question asked of them. Hel!, I'm no expert, yet I've found myself spending a couple hourse here and there just responding to PMs from members answering their questions, and trying to find information for them.

"Scolded": If calling you out for suggesting something was "frowned upon" then I am guilty. PP as a gift isn't against the rules and until that changes I don't see why you felt the need to add that to the thread.

That thread had all kinds of other actual infractions that you were welcome to point out, but you stuck with your own personal hot button issue.

I'm sure it was a coincidence, but how does that make the use of the word "immediately" wrong? Should I have said "within minutes", or "shortly after", or "in no time", etc.? If it makes you feel better, feel free to substitute them.

Because if I had been a more timid member, I probably would have backed down and never posted on a sales thread again. Which is probably what you would have liked. But I'm definitely not timid, quite the opposite, plus I was in a bad mood, as I stated, so I added to the thread.

As I said in the sales thread, I was trying to be diplomatic, and just wanted to make the seller aware of the new rules. I created this thread, because afterwards I realized I probably could have worded it better. However, you may want to take note that the Admins/Mods removed the thread giving "No PP as gift" as the reason for doing so.

I see no issues with a member reminding potential buyers that PP "Gift" is at the buyers EXCLUSIVE risk and the Mod/Admin team frown HEAVILY on posting it in sales threads.

Make it a rule that no mention of PP as Gift is allowed. Removed the ambiguity instead of all these facial expressions.

That thread should have been closed for Post Count, and poorly tagged pics well before it should have been closed for the PP as a Gift "Frowny"

Those above my pay grade have decided that policing sales threads for PP Gift on top of tagged photos, post counts, email addresses etc. etc. etc. would add another layer of work on top of what we already have. We also do not police PMs so ensuring that option was not used in a transaction would essentially be unenforceable.

As for why it was closed- I got there after the closure so I didn't get to see the original and can't comment towards that.

We can sit here all day and pi$$ in each others cornflakes and whine and moan about the new rules, reasons for their implementation, what should be done, what could be done, what should have happened.... it's an endless cycle.

The rules are the rules. Gift is allowed but is NOT recommended. If a member wishes to point that out to an OP they are more than welcome to do so.

PayPal is a great tool when it is used correctly. It makes transactions go quicker than the old days when you had to send a wire, Western Union, or maybe even a money order.

For use of the service, one should pay for it. Trying to circumvent the system is why people get hurt. Following the rules helps everyone. I know of two people that recently had problems with using PP gift as a payment option. Why risk getting your account suspended over not paying fees or even taking the risk of fraud either? You don't get "something for nothing" meaning free service.

Sellers, do everyone a favor and just make sure to add PP fees into your selling price! If you as a buyer decide to use PP the gift way, you deserve what happens. Mods should not have to police this...use common sense everyone!

    gift, not gift whatever.

I make it easy, since I can be trusted in a sale (duhr) I give the option, pay with gift or pay price +3%. Pretty simple, right?

No worries whatsoever with that however simply factoring in the 3% is preferable.

Since I think I have bought more watches from you than from any other sources combined I have no issues gifting you money which colors my take on the matter
