Hi All from IBUB the newest newbie

This is my first post, but I've been perched on the fringes, learning from long-time members for a while. I join the ranks of those who almost fell for scammers, like bluefakes, but who, luckily, googled my way out of potential trouble and found a really great site in the process.

I've learned quite a bit about watches in general and reps in particular in such a short time. I am very impressed by the level of camaraderie and willingness to share knowledge on this site and hope to be around for many, many timepieces to come.

In fact, on the basis of what I've learned in my short time here, I already ordered my first watch, Josh's Sub, which arrived a week later in beautiful condition (I'm going to try to post photos as soon as I can figure out how.)

A quick question in case anybody with knowledge is reading this: the Sub's cyclops appears to be just a hair lower than centered, and it reflects the lights off the ceiling of my office. Is that usual for a cyclops or is it caused by being overpowered or slightly off?

Glad you found us. I also ordered Josh's sub for my first watch as well. Black? In any case sometimes the cyclops is just not perfectly aligned. You are probably the only one that notices it. It does have a tendency to reflect the light, the gen is the same way, I think it has something to do with the shape. In any case, glad that you are happy with your purchase! Enjoy and Welcome again!

Welcome and good to see your post! It's more fun when you can interact w the members - glad you posted.

If your cyclops is just a hair off, thats awesome - I had a few that were quite skewed. It's ok, to be expected, the reflection. It's not a give away at all.

You guys are amazing, I mean who'd have expected 5 replies in the short period of time since I posted. And I appreciate the answers to my questions. The Josh watch (yes, black) is absolutely awesome and I look forward to wearing it after I remove a link. I don't recall reading anything on this before, but the hologram on the back appears to actually be a hologram, if so, this is one more barrier to bringing it closer to the gen.

I'm looking forward to a Breitling next and then maybe a Panerai (which, I confess, I had never heard of until joining up). BTW, how come they're called Pams rather than Pans?

The only bad thing about this site is that it is so damned addicting. I find myself checking the boards several times a day.

I wondered that myself for a little while. If you are planning on getting a few watches I would suggest buying a screwdriver set (tiny one) at home depot or lowes to adjust the band. That 10 or so bucks doesn't seem like much but X6 or 7 it adds up. Also, just FYI, the newest rolex have clear caseback stickers and many of the gen owners take the sticker off anyway. Rolex realized that the hologram was not stopping the replica makers so I think they just have up on the sticker. Sharing information with newcomers is one of most important jobs everyone does around here. I was given information and it's important to pass that information along...
